10 Tips to Deal with Boring Jobs
In professional life there might come a time when you get fed up of your current job profile. Need something different, challenging, and exciting. So one may think of leaving the bored job but it is more easily said than done situation. So such situation can be tacked with following quick tricks without quitting the job outright.
- Ask for some new job profile :
After doing any work for a longer period of time you become master of any work. Thus at such times it is obvious that you may feel more capable to accept new bigger challenges. You can always ask for different set of work to enhance your knowledge and capability. When you get new responsibility you can learn many new things.
- Can ask for more:
When you become master of any work the same work you can finish in much lesser time. So you may get free time and energy to try something additional work.
- Draw a ‘mind-map’ :
If you are stuck in some project then you can try this mapping trick. Just draw a circle in middle of piece of paper. Inside that write your main idea/theme. Draw some 10 little lines around the circle just like spoke in the wheel. Now write 10 different solutions/ ideas corresponding to main theme. By this method you will definitely know the stagnating point in your project.
- Try different ways to replenish your job interest:
First thing you must do is to find out what are the things that are responsible for loss of interest. Find out if you are missing a right track or your company’s goals are changed?.. In such cases, job interest can be revived easily by simply talking through and ignoring some of the assumptions you made earlier about the organization or the people.
- Avoid negative things and people:
You can always choose to be happy at work just avoiding negative thing & pessimist peoples around you. Thus you can just concentrate on your job in office which will boost you with positive energy and sense of achievements.
- Nurture your soul:
After lunch everyone wants to have ‘siesta’ to relax a bit. So it’s ok to spend some time in browsing non-work related subjects. This will not only refresh your mood but you can use this time for some personal development. You may listen to some educational podcasts or can learn new language or a new skill that is interesting to you. Some studies have shown that occasional web surfing breaks actually increases the productivity, as it is really difficult to stay that focused for straight 8 hours.
- Take out some job-free time :
Why to let the stupid job take over your private time?.. don’t talk or even think about job outside of work. Enjoy your life fully. After all this is not slavery. You definitely deserve some job-free time.
- Maintain good work-life balance:
Sometimes it may happen that we put in so much time into work that ultimately we don’t find some time for our personal things. Always keep in mind that you have life beyond the work. Ensure that you take out some personal time for good mental, physical fitness, peruse some hobbies which will make you happy from within.
You can always discuss an issue with a group of innovative colleagues. Such discussion not only boosts your positive energy but you can also capture lots of other new ideas. Then you may use some of those ideas whichever is most preferable to you.

Sometimes even after trying all the measures mentioned above you just don’t feel satisfied with you current job . If you still find it soul crushing then it’s a time to quit your job. Now you can find a career you actually like, which is more satisfying and that utilizes your potential and skills.
